No. The ASBCLA is open to anyone with a pulse and a desire to enjoy everything life has to offer.
Although it varies year to year, the majority of our membership ranges from 25-50 years old.
No problem. We offer several learn to ski/snowboard clinics each season. In fact, we have many non-skiing activities of interest to our members. Even during the ski season, not all of our members are able to take advantage of all of the trips.
That’s okay, our members’ abilities range across the scale. On our club ski trips, it’s easy to find someone else at your level of skiing / snowboarding experience...so don’t worry about skiing / snowboarding by yourself.
Each year, the club arranges a number of weekend trips to Mammoth Mountain, which may coincide with the Chamonix Ski Racing Schedule. Some are by chartered buses, others are drive up trips. ASBCLA tries to schedule a minimum of one out-of-state ski trip which can last up to seven days at a time.
No, in ASBCLA, there is no such thing as “out-of-town.” Our members join us for ski trips from all over Southern California, from Ventura to Poway to Mission Viejo. We even have out-of-state members from Washington, D.C. and Hawaii.
Our monthly general meetings are normally held on the first Thursday of each month in a different location each month. The reason for the roving location is to try to accommodate all our members, who are located throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
Promos and reports on activities are given, along with an informative presentation, demonstration or program on a sport or social activity. Current club activities and upcoming events are also discussed.
Sure. Many of the club’s activities are open to non-members, although the participation fee may be slightly higher. Come on out and join us. We’re sure that you’ll want to become a member after seeing what we’re like.
Of course you can. With the variety of activities that ASBCLA offers, it’s not uncommon to see different people at various events. And although ASBCLA was not intended as a club for singles, over 2/3 of our members are unmarried.
As a social organization, we maintain good relations with many organizations in the area and often plan joint or co-sponsored activities so that our members can interact more easily.
